Read the full story above. The FDA is looking into concerns that stimulant meds like Ritalin can cause psychiatric problems. Yet another reason I advocate people trying cognitive skills training before pumping their kid full of Ritalin. There are brain-training (NOT tutoring) places all over the U.S. and I know some (like some LearningRx programs) are covered by health insurance. (One LearningRx franchisee told me that she’s had parents get completely reimbursed for their child’s cognitive skills training under a “wellness” program.)
